Niskayuna - Thomas R. Cook, 88, passed away Monday, December 17, 2012. Thomas was born in Sharon, Connecticut, the son of the late Raymond and Mary (McNamara) Cook. He proudly served in the US Navy in the Pacific Theater during WWII. Having served aboard the USS Rutherford, he earned the Philippine Liberation Medal and Victory Medal of Asiatic Pacific. Thomas worked as a systems analyst for General Electric, retiring in 1984. He was married to Grace (Zanobi) Cook for 52 years, who predeceased him in 2000. He was a longtime member of Niskayuna Reformed Church and loved to travel. He is survived by his sons, Joseph (Nancy) Cook and Thomas Cook Jr.; and grandson, Timothy Cook. In addition to his wife, he was also predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Sarah Cook. The funeral service will be Saturday 2 p.m. at Niskayuna Reformed Church, 3041 Troy-Schenectady Rd., Niskayuna. Calling hours will be Friday 4 to 7 p.m. at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be sent to Niskayuna Reformed Church Building Fund.
