Obituary of Paul Muccigrosso

ALBANY - Paul Muccigrosso, 62, of Albany, passed away at home on July 5, 2017, after bravely battling cancer. Born November 12, 1954, in Hornell, N.Y., Paul was the son of Angelo T. and the late Mary Catherine (Reagan) Muccigrosso.

In addition to his father, Paul is survived by his sister, Diane Muccigrosso of Guilderland; his uncle, Joseph Muccigrosso of Corning, N.Y.; as well as Mucccigrosso and Reagan cousins, and many friends.

A 1972 graduate of Niskayuna High School, Paul then attended Siena College. During his working years, he was employed by the Town of Niskayuna, a cable company, and Pie in the Sky Bakery working as a bookkeeper.

For more than 40 years, Paul battled schizophrenia. Although a challenging illness, he took great pride in living independently. His home was a gathering place for friends. His door was always open; he was very generous and had compassion for all. A gentle soul, he approached people with courtesy and a keen sense of humor which brought laughter to all who came into his home and his presence. Paul was grateful for the many acts of kindness that were bestowed upon him.

The family expresses its appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and support staff of St. Peter's departments of oncology and thoracic surgery, who went above and beyond with their care, kindness, and remarkable courtesies provided to Paul. Additionally many thanks to family friends Antonia and Dagna, who assisted Paul in many ways during his illness and helped him to remain in his home.

Funeral service, Monday at 8:30 a.m. from the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady and 9 a.m. at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 1803 Union St., Schenectady. Entombment in Most Holy Redeemer Mausoleum, Niskayuna. Calling hours, Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
