To the family of Marian Locke,
My name is Jim Schliff and Marian and I worked together for many years in Human Resource Departments of the General Electric Co. I first met Marian in the 1950's during my first job with the company at the employment office located at that time on Edison Ave.in Schenectady.Marian acted as receptionist for all people seeking employment and was responsible for assuring that their applications were filled out correctly.I then provided an initial interview with all new applicants to determine if they might possess the skills for positions open at that time.Since jobs were not available for most people at the time Marian and I were the only two GE employees that these people met and even though they did not get hired it was our responsibility that they still went away with a positive impression of the General Electric company
Years later Marian and I worked together again for many years in the Human Resource Dept for GE at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory from which I eventually retired from the company.Although we saw each other infrequently,we never lost touch with each other. We would meet for Lunch periodically with other friends and even go once or twice together to the Saratoga Racetrack.I remember well from those days that one of her favorite places to eat was the Ripe Tomato located near Saratoga Lake.
I last spoke with Marian in February and was very saddened to read of her passing in the paper this morning.
Sincerely,
Jim Schliff

Our Aunt Marian was a very special woman. I have wonderful memories of visiting Aunt Marian and Grandma and Grandpa on Baker Ave. The house was a wonderful playground for children - with a cellar and an attic full of treasures! Aunt Marian was incredibly patient and generous with her many nieces and nephews.
Most important, she was incredibly strong. She weathered life's storms with grace and calm. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

I was fortunate to grow up down the block from Marian and her parents and have known her for over 50 years. They were all wonderful and loving people. Marian was a sweet and loving person and I will miss her dearly. She always took the time to stop and chat when I would see her. She always asked how I was doing and how my family was doing. She always spoke so proudly about her nieces and nephews and you could hear the love and admiration she had for them in her voice. I remember stopping and talking with her and her parents when I would see them sitting on their front porch. Marian - I wish you peace and eternal life and love.
Love,
Lynn LaBarge
