Obituary of Margaret Donati

Schenectady - Margaret Donati, 93, formerly of Rankin Ave., Schenectady, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the Albany County Residential Care Facility in Albany. She was born in Perth, NY, the daughter of Daniel and Minnie Brownell. She was a graduate of Broadalbin High School and moved to Schenectady with her husband, Larry, and their two young children in 1953. Margaret was active in Larry's business, Pollock's Market in Waterford, where she greeted customers at the cash register until retirement. She loved to collect antiques, go to garage sales with her friends, and travel. After retirement, Larry and Margaret crossed the country, visiting friends and family, and enjoyed trips to Japan and Europe with their children and grandchildren, and escaped Schenectady winters in Florida for many years. Margaret was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Lawrence Donati; their son, Richard (Donna) Donati; siblings, Isaac (Ursula) Brownell, Woodrow (Joyce) Brownell, Kathryn (Walter) Hemstreet, Raymond (Erna) Brownell, Jane Brownell, Henry (Elsie) Brownell, Richard (Laura) Brownell, Arnold Brownell and Donald Brownell. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Carol Clas) of Albany; daughter-in-law, Donna Donati of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Jeremiah (Nicole) Donati of Fort Worth, TX and Heather (Ben) Archer of Lafayette, CO; great-grandchildren, Anthony and Davis Archer and Colette and Naomi Donati; and over 20 nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 1255 Pleasant St., Schenectady at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 20. Viewing hours are from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 19 at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St. Her family would like to acknowledge the kindness and care of the staff at the Albany County Residential Care Facility. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
