Obituary of Judith Ann Englert
Clifton Park - Judith Ann Englert, passed away after a short illness at her daughter's home on January 4th, 2018 at the age of 77. She was born on April 22nd, 1940 to William and Viola Scott of Stottville, NY and graduated from Hudson High School in 1958. She became a secretary out of high school with the State where she met Dennis M. Englert, Sr, and they were married on June 9th, 1962. Judy was widely known for her athletic prowess and unrivaled competitive spirit whether it was golf, softball, field hockey, tennis, waterskiing, ping pong or basketball. She was never just "good for a girl" and always made the men pay for not treating her as a peer, winning numerous championships and trophies along the way. She also loved the outdoors and cherished spending time in Hague, NY with friends and family. She lived in Summerville, SC for several years having wonderful adventures with good friends before returning to upstate NY where she enjoyed working part time, playing dominos with her friends and spending weekly "Grandma Judy Special Days" with her grandchildren. And that was truly her raison d'etre: being a mother and grandmother. In those dual roles, she flourished and shaped 10 lives with love, devotion, and sacrifice. She taught those kids about doing everything with energy and abandon whether cheering them in sports (you could always hear her on the field) or baking ginormous cupcakes and mountains of food or just getting them outside. In that she has created a legacy that will live on in the single most important way to her: family. Judith is survived by her former husband, Dennis, of Schenectady; her sons Dennis (Marsha) Englert, Jr, of Round Lake; Michael (Julie) Englert, of Glenville, Jeffrey Englert, of Colorado Springs, CO; and Matthew, of Killington, VT; her daughter, Darcy (Ben) Shaw, of Glenville; her grandchildren, Benson and Gracie Shaw, of Glenville; William, Abigail, and Gabriel Englert, of Colorado Springs, CO, her sister, Joan Scott, of Clifton Park and her nieces and nephews Pamela, Edward, Kristine and Andrew. Judy is predeceased by her beloved parents, brother William and sister Shirley. Calling hours will be held at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St Monday, January 8th from 5-7 pm . A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, January 9th at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, Judy would appreciate donations to the Brave Will Foundation, Maple Avenue APF or the American Heart Association.
