Schenectady-Anthony(Tony)Cuda of Schenectady, NY, formerly of Jackson Avenue, died peacefully on July 19, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Pianopoli, Italy on February 6, 1924, he was the loving son of the late Agostino and Domenica Faga Cuda, and the beloved husband of Rose Cortesi Cuda. Tony and Rose were married at St. Anthony's Church in Schenectady on May 10, 1947 and shared a wonderful marriage for 65 years. Tony immigrated to the United States from Italy with his family in 1937 and attended Mont Pleasant High School. In 1942, he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country during World War II as an interpreter and translator in the European African Middle Eastern Campaign, stationed in Rome, Italy. After his honorable discharge, Tony attended the New York State Veterans Vocational School in Troy, specializing in electronics. Together with Rose, he established Anthony's Television Service in 1955 where he faithfully served the community for 38 years until his retirement in 1993. Tony was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and a dedicated friend. A gentle caring man, he loved to read and listen to opera. His inquisitive mind led him to figure out how to do any and everything. A man of high ideals and ethics, he was a committed person on whom everyone could depend. Family was the center of his life and his most precious moments were times spent with them, especially Sunday dinner at his home. For many years, Tony enjoyed gathering with his family and friends and boating at his Lake George summer home. He loved tending to his vegetable and flower gardens, caring for his home, helping his children, and attending St. Paul the Apostle Church. He was proud of his Italian heritage and was honored to become an American citizen on December 12, 1947. He will be deeply missed by his family, especially by his wife, Rose. In addition to his beloved wife, Rose, Tony is survived by his three loving children and their spouses, Patricia and Richard Nicolella of Clifton Park, Carol and Dr. Michael Perrino of Guilderland, and Paul and Cara Cuda of Halfmoon. He was predeceased by his son, Anthony Ralph Cuda in 1984. Tony is also survived by his dear grandchildren, Dr. Michael Perrino and his wife, Sari of Manhattan, Dr. David Perrino and his wife, Joanna of Delmar, Julianne and Caroline Cuda of Halfmoon, Marnie Nicolella of Manhattan, and Kristen Dalton and her husband, Kevin of South Berwick, ME; and his very special great-grandchildren, Eli and Sidney Perrino, Miles Perrino, and Grace, Jack, Natalie, and Sophie Dalton. Also surviving are Tony's loving sisters and their husbands, Rose and Claude Venditti, and Angelina and George Fountain, all of Scotia. His sister, Vincenzia Spadea and her husband, Dominick of Herkimer predeceased him. Tony's aunt, Natalina Faga of Herkimer; his sister-in-law, Phyllis Sorrentino of Rotterdam, many cousins, and countless nieces and nephews, all of whom he dearly loved, also survive. The family extends their sincere appreciation to the entire staff at Kingsway Nursing Home, especially all members of Cheryl Cole's A Wing and Mary Ellen Downs' D Wing, and to Dr. Jameson, for their constant care and dedication to Tony, and concern and compassion for his entire family. Family and friends are invited to call at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady, on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Monday morning at 10:15 from the Daly Funeral Home, and at 11 at St. Paul the Apostle Church, Albany Street and Kings Road, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Peter Pagones.
