Obituary of Dorothy Irene Salisbury

Schenectady - Dorothy Irene Meyer Salisbury, currently of Schenectady, passed away on January 10, 2018. Dorothy has three surviving children: Stephen of Norfolk, Nebraska, Margery of Blacksburg, Virginia and Glenda of Schenectady. She was preceded in death by her son John, sister, Elda May and ex-husband Homer L. Salisbury. She also leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Dorothy was born in Orchard, Nebraska on July 16, 1922 to Otto R. Meyer and Margery M. Hildreth Meyer. She moved to Grand Isle Nebraska to attend business school before moving to Washington, DC in 1944 and worked 25 years for the federal government, including Andrews Air Force Base, MD. Dorothy was faithful in her participation in her faith for many years at Bells United Methodist Church in Camp Springs, MD, Mt. Zion United Methodist in Harwood, MD and in the later years at the Reformed Church of Schenectady. Her favorites were the uplifting sermons and hymns. Dorothy leaves behind many friends wherever she lived. She was a happy, social person who loved to talk to everyone. She enjoyed her friends at JCC of Schenectady Senior lunch program and mostly recently at the Dayhaven of Schenectady. Also, the drivers and riders on the Catholic Charities transportation bus. She especially loved her friend Linda Naumowicz, who added so much joy to Dorothy's life. Her family would also like to thank the nurses and staff for their caring compassion in the Neurological ICU at Ellis Hospital. Dorothy's Celebration of Life will be held at Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady on Monday, January 15, at 4:00.
