Obituary of Elmer L. Freeman, Jr.

Schenectady – Elmer L. Freeman, Jr., 86, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 15, 2018. Elmer was born in Rural San Pedro, CA, the son of the late Minnie and Elmer Freeman, Sr. He was educated in Shirley, MA and was a veteran of the United States Navy. Elmer worked as a machinist for several companies before he began what became a more than 25 year career with General Electric, also as a machinist. Elmer is survived by his sons Donald (Michele) Freeman and Richard Freeman, four grandchildren: Danielle, Jared, Richard and Meghan, great-grandson Peyton, sisters Martha and Nancy and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings: William, George and Phyllis. Elmer's family would like to thank the staff at Baptist Health Care and Ellis Hospital for the loving care Elmer received. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ellis Foundation, 1101 Nott St., Schenectady, NY 12308. The funeral service will be 10:00 am Thursday March 22, 2018 at Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. A calling hour will precede the service from 9:00 to 10:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will be in Gerald B. H. Solomon, Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
