Schenectady - W. Robert Curtis, 83, passed away Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012. Born in Schenectady, he graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1949. Robert was a Turbine Engineer at General Electric for many years, before retiring. He served in the United States Army in the 325th tank battalion during the Korean War. He is predeceased by his first wife, Adrienne Rapello Curtis. Survivors include his wife, Melva Curtis, 3 daughters; Holly Contompasis of Niskayuna, Kimberly Nieber of Galway and Susan Kress of Scotia; a son, Robert Curtis of Rexford; 3 step-daughters: Carol (Bob) Nowell of Georgia, Joyce Dunn of Vermont and Susan (Art) Arehart of Florida. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Ashley, Adriana, Nicholas, Kari, Faith, Stephen and Gregory. The family would like to thank the staff at The Avenue Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Centre. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 11:00 am at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St. Calling hours will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment, Memory Gardens, Colonie.
