Colonie - George F. Treis,103,formerly of Lansing Rd., died Friday, May 18, 2018 at the Eddy Village Green in Cohoes, where he received wonderful care, for the past 14 months.
George was born in Schenectady, the son of Charles and Rose Treis. He was a graduate of Schenectady High School and was a U S Navy World War II veteran, serving in the European Theatre. He worked at the General Electric Co. as a Technical Specialist, retiring in 1976, with 36 years of service. He was a member of the G E Quarter Century Club, a proud member of the American Legion Post 1001, for over 70 years and a communicant of the Church of Saint Clare. He loved walking, ice skating, gardening and old Cadillac cars.
He was predeceased by his wife Ruth Butch Treis, she died in 1991 and their son Peter Treis.
He is survived by his daughter Sally (Thomas) Legendre; grandson Michael Legendre; two siste- in-laws Dorothy Butch and Patricia Butch, many nieces and nephews, some close and caring friends and neighbors. George will be remembered as a mentor and helper of many. He was predeceased by his brother Charles Treis, Jr.
Funeral service, Tuesday morning at 8:15 from Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady and 9:00 at the Church of Saint Clare, (1947 Central Ave. Albany) where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours, Monday afternoon 4:00 to 7:00 in then evening at the funeral home. Interment, St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady, with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation Northeastern Office, P.O. Box 38042, Albany, NY 12203-8042.
