Rotterdam - Robert G. Nagelsmith, 92, formerly of Rotterdam, died Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at St. Peter's Hospital. Bob was born in Schenectady, the son of Robert and Florence Nagelsmith, Sr He was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and was an Army World War II veteran, serving in the Pacific Theatre. He had worked for the Maqua Co. as a printer and later for the Daily Gazette. He was a member of the Schenectady Oldtimer's Baseball Club. Bob had been a communicant of St. Gabriel's Church and St. Madeleine Sophie. He loved baseball and golf. He was predeceased by his wife, Gloria J. Nagelsmith; she died in 2006. Bob is survived by three children, Mark Nagelsmith of Princetown, Gary Nagelsmith of Rotterdam and Lynn Nagelsmith of Guilderland; four grandchildren, Ryan Nagelsmith, Dana (Bill) Osta and Cody and Max Nagelsmith. Funeral service Wednesday morning 9:15 from Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady and 10:00 at St. Madeleine Sophie Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours, Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Interment, St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 222 Lafayette St., Schenectady, NY 12305.
