Obituary of George V. Krauss

Niskayuna - George V. Krauss, age 87passed away on Monday June 18, 2018.

Born on May 11, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY to the late George and Beatrice Krauss, George attended Brooklyn Technical High School. After high school George enrolled in New York Maritime College, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Engineering. He furthered his education at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, obtaining a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering. George worked for General Electric Knolls Atomic Power Lab (KAPL) for 41 years where he had assignments in Schenectady and Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was a member of the GE Elfun Society and the GE Quarter Century Club. George served in the US Naval Reserves, receiving an Honorable Discharge after 16 years. In retirement he was a member of the Samaritan Counseling Center Board of Directors and Treasurer for many years. George also enjoyed traveling the world, golfing and working in his garden.

George is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dolores. He is also survived by his sons George J (Marla) Krauss, John G (Lisa) Krauss, and Robert W (Valentina) Krauss and grandchildren Nicholas, Ethan, Timothy, Peter and Kasey Krauss.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 22nd, at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady from 5 to 7. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 23rd, at 9 AM at Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Union Street parish followed by interment at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
