Saratoga - James A. Lloyd, 95 of Lawrence St., formerly of Schenectady and Glenville, died Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at the Schenectady Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing.
Jim was born in Edwardsville, PA, the son of James A. and Lillian Lloyd, Sr. He was educated in Newport Township Schools and was a member of the Civil Conservation Corps before serving in the U S Coast Guard for four years. He is a former employee of Glen Alden Coal Company, before moving to Schenectady in 1951. Jim worked at the ALCO, for the ordinance division on tanks, he also worked for the County Court House and later the Glendale Home, as a custodian, retiring in 1986, with 35 years service. He had been a member the Albany Street United Methodist Church and was a former trustee of the church and in recent years a member of the Saratoga Springs United Methodist Church.
He was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Edna Lloyd, at the time of her death in 2016. They married on Jim's birthday, on August 7, 1946.
Survived by their daughter Linda (Chesley) Wilson of Rotterdam; one sister Mary Frank of Lansford, PA; four grandsons, four great- grandchildren and four nieces. He was predeceased by his sister Margaret Davis.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday morning 11:00 at the Schenectady Memorial Park Cemetery, Gifford's Church Rd., Rotterdam. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Ave., Scotia, NY 12302.
