I was so deeply saddened to hear of Stephen's passing. I had spoken to him a few days before. I've known Stephen for several years. Our mothers knew each other. When I first met Stephen I saw a man who was caring with a sharp mind who was so bright and funny -- he could impersonate the comic Steve Martin, etc. He had an amazing memory and could recite statistics of football, baseball and golf players and the years they played and other stats. We kept in touch over the years through long distance phone calls, but we spoke much more often more recently during this difficult time. I hope I showed him that I cared about him and could comfort and support him and make suggestions to ease his pain. He will be sorely missed and will always hold a place in my heart. May you rest in peace, Stephen.
