George proudly volunteered and served in the 94th Signal Battalion under the direction of General George Patton in the European theater of World World II.  He earned a bronze star for setting up telecommunications behind heavily mined German lines.

Postwar he was employed by the New York Telephone Company in Schenectady, NY where he was an active member of Eastern Parkway United Methodist Church, the National Guard Reserve, Schenectady Republican party, and the local Red Cross. He was also a member of the St. George’s Masonic Lodge.  He left the phone company and took a position with Ford Aerospace and Communications in Horsham, PA and later Henkels & McCoy, Blue Bell, PA travelling internationally working in fiber-optic communications.

Passionate about history, George made sure his family was well travelled around the United States as well as many summers on Cape Cod.  He placed much importance on the value of understanding the history of our country.

After the untimely death of his second wife, he moved to St. Charles to be with his daughter and family.
