Niskayuna – George A. Hydorn, 81, passed away Thursday August 16, 2018. George was born in Schenectady, the son of the late George and Elizabeth Hydorn, and was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Nott Terrace High School, and then proudly served in the US Army from 1958 to 1960. George worked for Sealtest Dairy for several years, and then worked for the New York State Assembly for many years until his retirement. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Niskayuna Fire District #1 for more than twenty years, a long time communicant of St. Helen's Church, a train enthusiast and an avid bird watcher. George is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jean Hydorn, their children: George Hydorn, Kathleen (Keith) Leavenworth and Teresa (Steven) Coirin, grandchildren: Casey, Millie-Jean, Griffin, Jacob and Grace, brother Vernon Hydorn and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Sunday 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Funeral services will be held Monday 9:30 am from the funeral home, then to St. Kateri Tekakwitha, Union St. (formerly St. Helen's) where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
