Obituary of Martha B. Smith

Niskayuna - Martha Bogan Smith, 93, formerly of Atateka Rd., died August 11, 2018, at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center.
Martha was born in Ponca City, OK, the daughter of Arthur and Martha Bogan. She was a graduate of Tulsa Central High School and Cornell University. She moved to the Schenectady area in 1951. Martha had been a volunteer with the Pastoral Care Department at the Stratton VA Hospital for many years, a former Girl Scout leader and was a past member of the League of Women Voter's, DAR and a Red Cross volunteer at Blood Drives. She was an active member of St. George's Episcopal Church and man on committees related to church activities. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and a wonderful neighbor.
She was predeceased by her husband Jack Howard Smith; he died in 2005.
Survivors include her three children; Pamela (Franklin G. Horowitz) Smith, Geoffrey Smith and Bruce Randolph 'Randy' Smith; a grandson, Andrew Clark Smith. She was predeceased by a grandson, Ian Horowitz.
Funeral service, Tuesday afternoon, 1:30 at Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. The family will receive people from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m., prior to the service . Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Stratton Veterans Administration Hospital, 113 Holland Ave., Albany, NY 12208 (for the Pastoral Care Department).
