Obituary of Ann Markopoulos

Schenectady – Ann Markopoulos, 91, passed away Wednesday January 16, 2019 at Ellis Residential and Rehabilitation Center.
Ann was born in Somerville, Massachusetts in 1927 to Greek immigrant parents, Yianni and Katina Finitsis. She worked as a bookkeeper until she married Nicholas Markopoulos of Manchaug, Massachusetts in 1951. Soon after they married, Ann and Nicholas moved to Schenectady where Nicholas was employed with G. E. Ann enjoyed part-time work as a crossing guard and later as a lunch monitor in the Oneida Jr. High School and was a member of the Ladies Philoptochos of St. Georges Greek Orthodox Church.
Ann's husband passed away in April of 2003 and she is survived by her loving children, Tina Markopoulos of Schenectady, Peter Markopoulos of Schenectady, Daniel and Linda Markopoulos of Amsterdam, her granddaughter Kate Markopoulos of Brighton, Mass., her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Steve and Mary Markopoulos of Schenectady and sister-in-law Mary Finitsis, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her close friend Carm Diehsner who has always been very dear to her.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday 10:00 am at St. Georges Greek Orthodox Church, 107 Clinton St., Schenectady, NY 12305. Interment will be in Gerald B H Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY. There will be no calling hours.
