Obituary of Mary Ann Sheehy
Mary Ann Gerardi Sheehy, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, surrounded by her husband and her loving family, after a two year struggle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Salvatore and Angelina (Stella) Gerardi. Shortly after she was born, they moved to the family farm in Galway, New York. Then on to Sacandaga Road, Scotia, where Mary Ann attended the Scotia Glenville Schools, graduating in 1966. She was a homemaker and also worked for the State Education Dept. Schenectady County Library at the Main Branch, she was a sub with the Schenectady City Schools and Schalmont monitor/secretary, then SCCC until retirement in 2011, with 19 years service to the college. She enjoyed being a quilter, knitting and crocheting , bowling, gardening, crossword puzzles and was very active at St. Margaret of Cortona Church where she had been on the Parish Council, the Rosary Society, head of the Prayer Shawl ministry and helped with the Christmas Fairs and worked in the kitchen during storms Irene and Lee. Mary Ann is survived by her husband of 51 years John Sheehy; her loving daughter, Kathleen Sheehy, son-in-law, Shane Kosinski; two precious grandchildren, Evan and Ava Kosinski; her siblings, Jo Green (the late William), Connie Gerardi, Rose Gerardi, Barbara Watson (David) and Richard (Susan) Gerardi; 18 nieces and nephews; 17 great-nieces and nephews; Aunt Ruth Gerardi and Uncle John Fiore; many cousins and sister-in-law, Margaret Sheehy (the late Edward Sheehy. Funeral service Thursday morning 9 a.m. from the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady and 10 a.m. at St. Margaret of Cortona Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours Wednesday 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment Memory Gardens, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O.
