Obituary of George DeRossi

George John DeRossi, 83, passed into God's eternal kingdom, Tuesday morning, May 31, 2011. He was born in Albany, NY, the son of John and Theresa DeRossi. He passed away peacefully at home after a brief illness. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara DuMond-DeRossi; his seven daughters, six sons-in-laws, three stepchildren, and 21 grandchildren from combined marriages. His daughters include Teresa Major, Carol (Mark) DiCocco, Jean (Walt) Varbel, Mary (Chuck) Bernard, Patty (James) Mastroianni, Kathryn (Dave) Williamson, and Ann (Phil) Talamo. His stepchildren include Harry DuMond, Shane (Sarah) DuMond, and Janai (Corey) DuMond-Hall. George was the owner of the "Star Super Market" in Clifton Park, NY, where he was well known and loved by the community, from 1965 to 1984. George and Barbara spent much of their time at their Schroon Lake home. He loved the water, both at the lake and at the beach in their Florida winter residence. His greatest passion was flying his own private plane, enjoying many trips and excursions over the years. He was also an Army Veteran and served in the Korean War. He was predeceased by his first wife, Nina (Camprone) of 34 years; his brothers, Mike (Ninfa) DeRossi, Frank (Mary) DeRossi; and sister, Jackie (Ed) Savarino; many nephews, nieces, friends and neighbors. Calling hours will be on Thursday, June 2, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 3, 2011, at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 1241 State Street, Schenectady, at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1141 Union Street, 12308, or to EWTN, 5817 OldLeeds Road, Irondale, AL 35210.
