Florida - Armand "Army" DeSalvatore, 87, formerly of Schenectady, passed away peacefully on August 5th at the Villages Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages, Florida. Born and raised in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Luis and Mary (DeNovio) DeSalvatore. Armand served his country for three years during World War II in the Marine Corps before going to work at the Army Depot in Rotterdam. He then worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years before retiring in 1980. Army was a wonderful and gentle soul and a true gentleman in every way. His love for the camp he built in the Adirondack Mountains was only surpassed by his love for Florence, his wife of 64 years. He is survived by Florence (Leone); his son, David (Kristen); his grandchildren, Nathan, Daniel, and Morghan; niece, Linda DeCarlo; nephew, Lewis (Cindy); along with several grandnephews and brothers-and sisters-in-law. He was predeceased by his daughter, Karen; his brother, John; and his sister, Norma Flicker. Armand will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral service Friday morning 11 a.m. at St Anthony's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. There will be no calling hours. Interment, St. Cyrils, Rotterdam.
