Obituary of Edwin Fyvie
Please share a memory of Edwin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The one and only, "Fast" Edwin Ellis Fyvie, Sr., passed away in January, 9th 2021 at the age of 74.
In his younger days, Schenectady knew him as "Fast Eddie". At the age of 11 years old after the suicide of his father, he was moved into the Schenectady Children's Home and lived there until the age of 18.
From age 18 to 36 he lived the life of a street hustler. The type of life that people would only see in a movie. Also the type of life that usually ends early and ends tragically.
But his story did not end there...In the early 1980's after losing custody of his daughter. He entered his 10th rehab program and transitioned into AA. Not long after he met a girl named Deanna Carpenter. The two of them went on to have a child. From there, the next chapter of his life began. While many people cannot fathom starting there life over at 41 years old, he did just that.
In the years following, "Fast Eddie", who would come to be the lovable, "Pops", devoted his life to his son Eddie and his career as a professional MMA fighter. Eddie Sr. was truly original. Truly unique. Anyone who had the chance to interact with him, ALWAYS remembered him and took special notice of him.
He leaves behind his son, Eddie Fyvie, Jr., daughter, Natalie Berg, grandchildren Mason, Emily, and Rocco. He will be greatly missed.
His services will be on Tuesday, January 19th at the Saratoga Springs City Center, from 4:00pm - 8:00pm, masks are required.
But we will always remember him as "Pops", the MAN, the MYTH, the Legend. Schenectady lost one of its finest! We love you Pops. Until we meet again...Schenectady-s
