Obituary of John Dowse

John Dowse, 84, of Shereen Ct., died Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Ellis Hospital. John was born and educated in Queens. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. He was an operating engineer throughout Long Island, moving to Rotterdam five years ago. John was known for his love of bowling and participated in several leagues at Sportsman bowl. He was predeceased by his wife, Joan B. Dowse; she died in 1996. Survivors include three children, Patricia Dowse of Rotterdam, Linda (Tom) Owens of Lindenhurst, John (Joanne) Dowse of Bay Shore; a sister, Eleanor; and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Teresa Dowse; and a sister, Grace. Calling hours will be held Tuesday evening, 6 to 8 at the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady.
