Obituary of Helen Trinci

Helen Trinci (Contompasis / Gianos) 90 of Schenectady, New York passed peacefully from this world on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Glendale Home in Schenectady, New York. Helen was born on August 6, 1930 in Schenectady to the late Peter and Rigoula (Chrisafitis) Gianos. Helen grew up on McClellan Street and graduated from Nott Terrace High School in Schenectady. She earned her Registered Nursing certification at Bellevue Hospital in New York City, and her Bachelors and Masters in Teaching from the College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York. She worked in the Schenectady City School system as a school nurse teacher at Woodlawn Elementary and Woodlawn Middle School, and as a 1st and 2nd grade teacher at Paige Elementary school. At Paige, she started the “Birthday Buddies” program that celebrated 1st grade student birthdays with baked goods supplied by volunteers. She continued to actively support this program well after her retirement from teaching. She cherished every minute helping and working with children! Helen loved to travel and quilt, but she loved her family the most. Her thoughtfulness and encouraging guidance will be well remembered by her family and friends. Helen often provided inspirational advice to “get things done”. She was truly one of a kind. Helen had been a member of the St George Greek Orthodox Church in Schenectady and the Trinity Reformed Church in Rotterdam. Helen was pre-deceased by her husbands James Contompasis and Richard Trinci. She is survived by her daughter Charlene Kennedy and husband John of Austin, Texas, and sons David Contompasis and wife Marianne of Whippany, New Jersey, Phillip Contompasis and wife Beth of Rotterdam, New York, Don Trinci of Round Lake, New York, Paul (Mary Jane) Trinci of Malta, New York and Richard Trinci of Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren Ryan Contompasis, Nicole Contompasis, Natalie Contompasis, Troy Contompasis, Cole Contompasis, Rick Trinci, Bernadette Pillard, Angie and Luke Giardenelli, Brian and Ashley Trinci, Marlene and Colin Sweet, Rita and Alan Roth and Donny Trinci. A memorial service will be held on, Sunday March 28 from 4-6 PM, at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
