Obituary of Janet LaBelle
Please share a memory of Janet to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Clifton Park - Janet M. LaBelle passed with peace and grace on March 25th, 2021, at the age of 94, at Schuyler Ridge Residential Healthcare in Clifton Park. She was born in Schenectady in 1926 to Albert and Marguerite LeRoy. Janet was the beloved wife of the late J. Robert LaBelle Sr. who passed away in 1997; they married in 1950 and were together for 49 years. They loved their vacations in Wells, Maine, Cape Cod, and Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She was also a devoted mother to her three children: Denise, Robert, and Thomas. She adored her daughters-in-law, Kimberly and Heidi, and her grandchildren Hayden and Kayla. She loved nothing more than her family and spending time with them; she especially loved family gatherings where she got to see her sisters, brother, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Janet graduated from Nott Terrace High School and immediately began working for General Electric. After she had her children, she managed her brother’s dry cleaning business for many years. She always enjoyed catching up with regulars and loved anyone who could make her laugh, and few could forget her friendly face. Through this, she crossed paths with many and even cultivated two long and successful marriages in the process. She was undoubtedly skilled at playing matchmaker.
Janet was a lifelong resident of Schenectady. She loved to entertain, and whoever stopped by was promptly greeted with a bright smile and a welcoming hug. If anything sticks out in a person’s mind about Janet, it was that she absolutely loved to dance. She admired her friends and loved ones who could dance, and her moves were quite good as well. She also took great pride in her garden and home; she meticulously maintained her flowers, and during the spring and summer, you could frequently find her in her yard tending to them. She fancied herself as a decorator as well and diligently improved her homes through her bright purple door and touches of pink flowers throughout her home.
If you knew Janet, you knew her smile, her contagious laugh and sense of humor; Janet was always kind, elegant and adored her family. Janet truly brought beauty wherever she went.
