Scotia Edward Francis Dunleavy of Scotia died peacefully surrounded by his family March 3, 2012. Edward was born July 8, 1926, in Schenectady, NY. He was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and a World War II veteran. He began his military service enlisting in the National Guard at the age of 14 and went on to serve honorably in the Army with the 811th tank Destroyer Division in the European Theater. Edward married Beverly Anne Snyder on May 1, 1949 and began a career with Domestic Finance Company where he served as manager for several years. In 1959, an ambitious Edward had a vision to start his own company, Professional Adjustment Agency. Over the years it evolved to include Central Credit Bureau, Tri City Auto Recovery presently known as TCAR. Edward served as a past president of Schenectady Lions Club, Retail Credit Association and The Oil Dealers Association. Ed was the patriarch of a large Irish family of which he was very proud. He was happiest when surrounded by them. Ed was well known for his social personality and enjoyed entertaining. He had a special place in his heart for Lake George, and enjoyed summers at his camp on Cotton Point. Cocktail cruises on his boat Easy Rider were legendary. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Beverly; daughter, Kathleen (Michael) Olszewski of Saratoga Springs; sons, Christopher (Cathy) Dunleavy, Brad (Nadia) Dunleavy of Scotia, Brian (Leslie) Dunleavy of Lake George and Craig (Bonnie) Dunleavy of Galway. Ed is also survived by his grandchildren, Colleen, Lisa, Tara, Christopher, Patrick, Ryan, Danielle, Carley, Stephanie, Sean, Kyle, and Casey; as well as his great-grandchildren, Nicole, Sierra, Cooper and Brady. Funeral service Wednesday morning, 9:45 a.m. from the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St. and 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate conception Church, Glenville where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be held Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment, St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville. The family wishes to thank the staff at Kingsway Arms Nursing Home as well as Schenectady Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you make a donation in memory of Edward Dunleavy, of Jennifer Rd., Scotia, NY 12302 to The St. Clare's Campus at The Foundation for Ellis Medicine, 1101 Nott Street, Schenectady, NY 12308, or to any charity of your choice .
