Viggo Christensen Jr., 86, of Schenectady entered into eternal life on May 29, 2021 at St. Peter's Hospice Inn, Albany NY.
Viggo was born July 24, 1934 in Schenectady to the late Viggo and Elisabeth Christensen who emigrated from Thisted, Denmark to the US.
He is survived by a step-sister, Doris Mageean Brown of Hoosick Falls; nieces, Linda Ellen Brown of Delmar, NY, Laurie Brown (Gene) O'Brien of Swamspcott, MA, and Janice Mageean (Michael) Lavare of Lakeland, FL; nephews, Garrett C. Brown (Kelly) of Hoosick Falls, NY and Erik Juul-Lassen of Skanderborg, Denmark; 12 great-nieces and nephews and several cousins in Denmark.
Viggo was predeceased by his sisters Shirley June Christensen and Margaret Christensen Navarette; niece, Karen Navarette Stone of England; half-brother Poul Ejnar Juul-Lassen and half-sister Elisabeth Nielsen of Denmark; step-brother John J. Mageean; brother-in-law Sidney M. Brown and nephew, Sidney M. Brown Jr.; cousins Evan Christensen and Nancy Christensen Fleming.
Upon graduation from Nott Terrace High School in 1951, Viggo entered the U.S. Army where he served in the 886th Medical Company of the 11th Airborne Division in Augsburg, Germany. Formerly an account manager with Townecraft Homewares, Viggo was a consummate film collector and animal advocate.
Funeral services will be private. The family wishes to thank the staff at Albany Medical Center and St. Peter's Hospice Inn. Arrangements by Daly Funeral Home, Schenectady.
