John "Jack" Carlin, 92, of Schenectady, passed away on Friday, May 28, 2021 at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Jack was born in Newark, New Jersey on March 2, 1929, the son of Thomas F. Carlin and Catherine Mathieson. He graduated from Bethlehem Central High School in 1947.
He enlisted in the United States Airforce in 1948. Assigned to the 27th Fighter Escort Wing, he was stationed in Austin, Texas; Japan and Korea, during the Korean War. Jack was Honorably Discharged in 1952, with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was employed by American Airlines as a ticket agent at the Albany Airport, for 38 years.
On October 20, 1956, he married Elizabeth "Betty" Alexander. They were married for 49 years. She passed away in 2006. He is pre-deceased by his parents and his sister, Catherine Harrison. He is survived by his son, Scott Carlin of Schenectady; his daughter, Elizabeth Carlin of Eugene, Oregon; son-in-law, Stephen Brainard; 2 grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Jack was a member of the Three Diamond Society of American Airlines, a life member of the Lt. Vilber O. Fryer Chapter 88 of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a former member of the Jimmy Dee's Golf League as well as the Golden Swingers Golf Club League.
All services will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY.
