Schenectady - Eileen Eckel, 72, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2012, at Ellis Hospital. She was born in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Herman and Marion (McGrath) Eckel, graduated from Mont Pleasant High School and earned a degree from Schenectady County Community College. Eileen worked at the Watervliet Arsenal as an information clerk for 33 years, retiring in 1989; she then worked for the Schenectady Police Department for the traffic division. She was a member of St. Paul's Senior's and the Red Hat Society and was a long time communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Church. Eileen loved watching Days of Our Lives, Wheel of Fortune and Court TV. She is survived by nephews, Bernard Baker, Matthew Eckel and Mark Eckel and several great-nieces and nephews. Eileen was predeceased by siblings, Thomas Eckel and Gertrude Baker and nephew, Timothy Eckel. Funeral services will be Friday 10:15 a.m. from Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady then to St. Paul the Apostle Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Calling hours will be Thursday 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady.
