Obituary of Lois Amell

Lois N. Amell, 83, of Edwin Dr., died Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at Ellis Hospital, after a short illness. Lois was born in Schenectady, the daughter of John and Margaret Newell and was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy. At one time she worked for New York Telephone Co. and worked for many years as a buyer for the Carl Co., retiring several years ago. She had been a volunteer with Mohawk Pathway Girl Scouts for many years. Lois enjoyed going out to lunch and traveling with her friends. She was an active volunteer and communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church. She was predeceased by her husband, John "Jack" Amell, he died in 1993. Lois is survived by five children, John J. Amell, Jr. of Charlton, Mary (Stephen) Goldstein of Galway, Thomas Amell of Scotia, Patricia (Arthur) Keller of Galway and Margaret DeFoe of Galway; nine grandchildren, Tina Gamache, Cheryl Sicker, Nathan Robusto, David and Hannah Goldstein, Arthur Keller III, Danielle, Samantha and Jacquelyn DeFoe; eight great-grandchildren, Rachel, Matthew and Zachary Gamache, Amber, Paige and Dakota Sicker; Layla and Mia Robusto. Funeral service Friday morning, 9:15 from the Daly Funeral Home, Inc, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady and 10 at Our Lady of Grace Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours, Thursday 5 to 8 in the evening at the funeral home. Interment, Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
