Obituary of Helen B. Nagle

Helen Virginia Nagle, age 94, passed away quietly on November 24, 2021. Helen resided at Schenectady Center. Helen is preceded in passing by her husband of 60 years William Nagle and recently by her son Daniel Nagle. Helen is survived by her sisters, Marguerite Herring and Betty Atanasoff (Art); her loving children, Sue Ellen Dawson, Catherine Duster (David), Daughter-in-law MaryAnn Nagle and James Nagle. Helen is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Helen remarried in the latter part of her life to Charles Bruns, recently deceased. Helen graduated from St. Mary's School of Nursing, class of 1947. After moving to Schenectady, she worked at Bellevue Women's Hospital and then at the former Hallmark Nursing Centre, where she was a Supervisor, then Assistant Director of Nurses. Her legacy as a compassionate nurse and strong leader remains today with the people she knew. She enjoyed, along with her husband William Nagle, being involved with Belmont Pop Warner serving as Secretary then Treasurer. She was a communicant of St. Luke's Church. For many years she was active in the church baking, prayer chain and other activities with Charles. She also had many friends there. The family wishes to thank the staff on the Willow unit at the Centers for their kindness and care of their mother. With a special thanks to Debbie Mutema, N.P., Mary, Theresa, Gailene, Lori and Kedar. Calling hours will be Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Daly funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady, NY, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, December 3, 2021 at 9 a.m. at St. Luke's Church. Interment will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be directed to St. Luke's Church in memory of Helen Nagle.
