My family moved to Schenectady Street in 1971. I met this wonderful family as they were my neighbors. You lived across the street from my family home. I have so many wonderful memories of those days. While my memory fades as I get older, I can say with confidence this family made a huge impact on my childhood. Though we have lost touch, please know I loved your Mom and remember how beautiful she was. I lost my Mom in 2019, She was 92. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family as you work through this loss. Kathy, Billie, and the rest of the family take comfort in knowing your Mom will be with you forever. She was a disciplined and loving person. Thats my memory of her. Please feel free to reach out. I am still on Schenectady Street, Little yellow house, across from where your house once was. God Bless you all,
L

I can't remember a time in my childhood without Mary Jane in my life. She was the kindest person to everyone she knew. I remember doing all the different kind of functions at St Luke's and Mary Jane and my mother Bridget Smith would be running around like crazy women trying to get everything done. I'll cherish the trips I got to take to NYC with her and Chuck Bruns. My prayers go out to your family and friends
Love Laura (Smith) Coppolo and family

Very saddened to hear of Mrs. Smith’s passing. She meant a great deal to me and my family growing up in Schenectady and as parishioners of St. Luke’s. The love and joy with which she performed any task, from managing the food pantry, to running the concession stand and 50-50 at CYO basketball games, to watching over all of us kids, was exemplary of the Christian way of life. I will miss her smile, her laugh, and her hugs. I pray for her, and for the entire Smith family during this trying time. Love to you all. -Steve

I was not fortunate enough to know Mary Jane but was a friend to her daughter Kathi who exemplifies grace, love and kindness, qualities her mother instilled in her. That is the biggest tribute one can give a parent.
To Kathi and her extended family I send heartfelt sympathy for the loss of this precious soul.
