I knew Jeff at Drome Sound and later at Parkway Music for many, many years. His expertise and personality were always a talent that defined his character. I sorely miss our interactions and joke exchange. See you on the other side my brother.

Dear Renee and family, Please accept my most sincere sympathy on the passing on of Jeffrey. At a time like this words seem so inadequate to express our feelings when the passing of a loved one occurs, especially at a young age. My belief is that the soul that passes to the heavenly realms will continue to watch over, pray for and assist the family he has left behind. Be assured that his spirit lives on and will always be with you. Love & Peace, Tony

I have only known Jeff since I stared going to Parkway music when they opened the first store. Jeff was a wonderful and kind man. He was always just fun to talk with and always had great advice. He always had his "Your late" greeting if I walked anywhere past 10:30 on a Saturday. I will miss him and his smile.

My deepest condolences to the Ellis family. Jeff was a great man and always gave his valuable time and wisdom when I asked for some. When I set up for a show, he will be in my thoughts because he built what I use every week. I will miss his smile, funny jokes, and him yelling "seanie" when I walk upstairs in Parkway Music.

I just heard of Jeff's passing, and am beyond heartbroken. Jeff was a friend to me, an inspiration on how to be happy, a true professional, and one of the kindest people I have been honored to know. He will leave such a giant hole in all of the lives he touched, and the numbers of those lives are countless. He took time to educate, to offer assistance, and to ALWAYS make you laugh. My deepest condolences go out to all of his family and friends. When you remember me, it means that you have carried something of who I am with you, that I have left some mark of who I am on who you are. It means that you can summon me back to your mind even though countless years and miles may stand between us. It means that if we meet again, you will know me. It means that even after I die, you can still see my face and hear my voice and speak to me in your heart. For as long as you remember me, I am never entirely lost... Frederick Buechner

Renee and boys, keep strong. Jeff always spoke of you all as the most important thing in his life. Then the dogs and finally music. He was my mentor not just in music but in life. Renee, you should remember me popping in from time to time for horseshoes, bay breezes or just to see how the boys where. I will miss the great talks and the funny and not so funny jokes. May God watch over you in this hard time. With much love and respect your friend - John Karl xoxoxo

Sometimes, the friends you have, become estranged because of their daily activities and location. God bless you Jeffery, and your family and friends. You were one of those rare musicians that appreciated your peers. That in itself, is a reflection of your true soul, as well as a positive influence to your family and friends.

I have been watching Jeff play the drums flawlessly since I was 12. At such a young age I was given the special opportunity to see Jeff play together every weekend with my brothers Mike and Dave along with Paul Riley and Kevin Bacon. It was (by far) the highlight of my young life and is what defined the direction of my life for nearly 20 years. I too wanted to make music because they just made it look so awesome! While my friends were home listening to "Love Is Like Oxygen" I was running the lights at the Hudson River Aquarium in Castleton NY while Jeff pounded out J. Geil’s classics such as "First I Look At The Purse" and "So Sharp" along with original music that I struggled to learn how to play on guitar. I never heard anything played so fast and so perfectly in my life! I knew every cymbal hit and stop and would try to use the light board as my instrument. I felt soooo connected and Jeff never made me feel like a little kid. I was one of them, part of the team. In my adult life, I have always loved Jeff's presence at my own gigs. What a unique pleasure it has been playing music with one of my musical hero's. I love you Snaggy! You will always live VERY LARGE in my memory and in my heart. My deepest sympathies go out to you Renee, Payson and Avery. Love, Scott

I was saddened to hear this news. Jeff and I worked together @ Price Chopper and shared a band house on Krumkill Road. Jeff was always good for joke or 5 and would do anything for you. Although it has been many many years since I have seen Jeff, every once in awhile he pops into my thoughts. He will be sorely missed. Steve
