James E. (Jim) Gorgos of Niskayuna, died at his home on March 6, 2022 after an incredibly brave battle with cancer. His determination and resilency were an inspiration to his family. He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy, and by his parents, Francis and Norma Gorgos of Binghamton, NY where he was raised. He is survived by his son David (Erin Sullivan) Gorgos of Clementon, NJ and by his daugher Debra (Rob Curto) Gorgos of Niskayuna, and by his brothers William (Rochelle) Gorgos of Saratoga Springs and Mark (Cindy) Gorgos of Binghamton and by his nieces and nephews, Tim, Linda, Katie, Keith, Steven and Kara Gorgos, who were crazy about him. He was a loving grandfather to Emil, Nathan and Emma Rose, all of whom he adored. He was a member of the first graduating class of Susquehanna Valley High School in Binghamton where he played football and baseball. Shortly after his graduation from Albany Business College, he joined the NYS National Guard/US Army Reserve and attained the rank of Specialist Four, receiving an Honorable Discharge. He then became a gifted technical writer and editor, holding positions at Albany Business College, Troy-Bilt, CMP Industries and then Cengage until his retirement. James had an incredibly quick mind and wit. He was a gifted artist and photographer. He enjoyed golf, particularly at Frear Park in Troy and Ely Park in Binghamton, as well as bowling, tennis, curling, skiing and even figure skating, following the lead of his parents. Summer weeks in Willsboro, NY with Nancy were memorable times for him. In his youth, he loved spending time with his maternal grandparents in Oswego, NY. His 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback was always his favorite car. He always thought about getting an Indian Motorcycle but settled for a motor scooter which he happily rode around Niskayuna. He was just so much fun to be around - he will be deeply missed. A Private Service will be held Thursday, March 10th at 5 pm. An hour of visitation for family and friends will precede the service on Thursday, from 4 to 5 pm. Interment will be private at Oddfellows Cemetery, Shamokin PA. You may pay your condolences online at www.dalyfuneralhome.com The family is requesting masks be worn.
