Obituary of Lillian English

Lillian Ille English, 91, of Butler Street, passed away Tuesday morning, January 26, 2010, at Ellis Hospital. Lillian was born in Schenectady on April 10, 1918, a daughter of the late William and Pearl Bradt Ille. She was educated in Schenectady and was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School, class of 1936. For 29 years, Lillian worked for General Electric in their main plant and later at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, prior to her retirement in 1983. After retiring, she devoted the rest of her life to being a devoted homemaker who truly loved and enjoyed her grandchildren. Lillian was a longtime communicant of St. Gabriel's Church and a member of the GE Quarter Century Club. She was the loving wife of the late Edward L. English, Sr., whom she married July 4, 1942. He later died in May of 1996. Survivors include her loving children, Edward L. English, Jr., of Rotterdam, and Patricia English of Schenectady; beloved and cherished grandchildren, Michael English of Albany, Mark English and Laura English, both of Rotterdam; brother, W. Bernard Ille of Burnt Hills; two nieces and one nephew. Funeral service will be Friday morning at 10:30 a.m. from the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady, then to St. Gabriel's Church, Hamburg Street, Rotterdam, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
