Obituary of Edna Gage
Please share a memory of Edna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Glenville - Edna K. Gage, 91, passed away on June 6, 2022, at the Glendale Home.
The daughter of the late Joseph William Couture and Laura (Tryon) Couture, Edna was born on May 16, 1931. Edna and William B. Gage were married September 3, 1950.
Edna worked in Collections at Central Credit Bureau, Mohawk National/ Norstar Bank and Tri-City Auto Recovery.
While in high school, Edna's many talents included swimming and being a majorette. While raising her family, she was also an avid bowler.
Edna and Bill spent many years enjoying life, family and friends at their camp in Moffitt Beach, Lake Pleasant, NY. Many summer vacations were also spent at Long Beach Island, NJ. Edna could always find a nice, sunny spot to work on her tan.
As the Gage family can tell anyone, even though Edna was not a good cook, she sure knew how to keep the animals fed whether it was the family pets, the strays that eventually became family pets, the birds and the squirrels to mention a few. Since the squirrels knew the peanuts were kept in the breezeway, if Edna didn't satisfy their daily routine on a timely basis, they chewed the siding to get in.
Edna was pre-deceased by her husband Bill in October 2018 and her brother Joseph Couture in October 2020.
She is survived by her children, William J. J. (Kimberly) Gage of Delanson; Donald E. (Carla) Gage of Wells; and James M. (Christine) Gage of Glenville; granddaughter, Kristina M. Gage; grandsons, James W. Gage and Alex J. Gage; great-grandson, Ryder J. Gage; step-granddaughter, Tracy Greenwood; and step great-grandchildren, Ryan Pomeroy and Peyton Cole. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to the Pine Plains staff of the Glendale Home for their professionalism, dedication, care and compassion for Edna during her last 2 years. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Ave. Scotia, NY 12302.
