Obituary of Warren Amell

Warren A. Amell, 87, of Helderberg Ave., died Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at Ellis Hospital, after a short illness. Mr. Amell was born in Tupper Lake, was a graduate of St. Columba High School and was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, serving in Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He worked for the General Electric Co. as a steamfitter in the gas turbine department for many years, retiring several years ago. He enjoyed woodworking, bowling and golf. Warren was a member of the G.E. Quarter Century Club, Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars Hildebrand Davis Post, and was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church and the Holy Name Society. He was married to Virginia Amell. She died in 1985, and he was predeceased by his son, Stephen Amell. Warren is survived by seven children, Charles "Chuck" (fiancee, Judy) Amell of Schenectady, Dennis (Bonnie) Amell of Baltimore, Sandra (Raymond) Hyam of Schenectady, Glenn (Cathy) Amell of Schenectady, Michael Amell of Schenectady, Mark (Kristine) Amell of Anchorage, AK and Brian (Robin) Amell of Rotterdam; a brother, Bernard (Marion) Amell of Schenectady; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and longtime friend, Wanda Powell. Funeral service Tuesday morning 10 o'clock at St. Anthony's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours Monday evening 5 to 8 at the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Interment will be in Memory's Garden Cemetery, Colonie.
