Muriel Fasula Obituary
Muriel A. Fasula, 101, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2010. Muriel was born in Alplaus, the daughter of Edward and Marion Strohm on July 10, 1908. She had a quiet spirit of adventure and enjoyed many travels with her beloved husband, "Benny." They had a second home in Edgewater, FL for many years. Muriel was quietly independent and continued to drive back and forth to Florida for the winters well into her late 80s, even after Benny died. She was an avid collector of antiques and other memorabilia. She loved to sew, knit and crochet and made lap robes for many of the residents on her floor at the Glendale Home. Muriel loved her family and valued her many friends and neighbors highly and enjoyed telling stories about her life experiences. She often shared her favorite quote from Abraham Lincoln, "Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be." When asked the secret to her long life on her 100th birthday, she said she figured it was a combination of things: no smoking, always having a garden and every woman needs a little chocolate every day!" Muriel was predeceased by her husband, Bernard R. "Benny" Fasula and their daughter, Muriel Louise "Suzy" Fasula Karr. She is survived by two grandsons, Andrew Karr and Gregory (Andrea) and their two children, Owen and Thain and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service Monday morning 10 o'clock at the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. A calling hour will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alplaus Fire Department, 309 Alplaus Ave., Alplaus, NY 12008
