Obituary of Linda J. Galey

Colonie - Linda J. Galey, 72, passed away peacefully Sunday December 4, 2022 at home with her beloved husband of more than 51 years at her side. Linda was born and raised in AuSable Forks, NY, the daughter of the late Loyal and Catherine Beardsley. She graduated from AuSable Forks High School, Class of 1968 and moved to the capital district as a young woman. Linda worked for New York State Department of Education for more than thirty years, retiring as a Head Clerk in the Office of Professional Licensing. Part of her career was spent working in the State Library which suited Linda well, she was an avid reader of biographies and research. Linda was always a person of service and upon retirement, she volunteered at St. Ambrose Elementary School, in the library. She is survived by her husband, Paul Galey, brother, Gary (Doris) Beardsley, sister-in-law, Tina (Stan) Galey-Pasierb and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Widener, brother-in-law, Joseph Galey and in-laws, Dominic and Angelina Galey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:00 am, Monday at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 1803 Union St., Niskayuna. A visitation time will precede the Mass from 8:30 am to 9:00 am at the church. Entombment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, in Linda's memory.
