Obituary of Godfrey Fellner

Godfrey M. Fellner, 90, died Monday, March 21, 2011, at the Glendale Nursing Home. Godfrey was born October 22, 1920 in Munich, Germany, the son of the late Godfrey and Barbara Hillenbrand Fellner. At the age of 4, he and his family immigrated to the United States and settled in Buffalo, N.Y. He was educated in Buffalo schools and subsequently attended and graduated from Canisius College with a bachelor's degree in accounting. Godfrey faithfully served in the United States Army during World War II, from 1942 to 1946. For 32 years Godfrey was employed by the Federal Government in various agencies. In 1979 he retired from the Watervliet Arsenal as an internal auditor. Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Fitzgerald Fellner, whom he married October 6, 1956; children, Jeffrey Fellner of Clifton Park, Pamela Cocca and her husband, Michael of Suffield, CT, and William Fellner and his wife, Janice of Glenville; and grandchildren, Michael Cocca, Meghann Cocca, Rachael Cocca, Bradley Fellner, Colleen Fellner, Jason LaFond, and Paul LaFond. Godfrey was predeceased by his sister, Charlotte Fellner. Funeral service will be held Thursday morning at 9:15 a.m. from the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady, then to St. Madeleine- Sophie Church, 3500 Carman Road, Guilderland, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Most Holy Redeemer, Niskayuna. Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Kathy Leonard, R.N., and the staff on C-1 at the Glendale Nursing Home.
