Obituary of William J. Micheli
Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
William (Bill) James Micheli, 93, was called to his heavenly home on Sunday, January 29, 2023. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Helen. Bill was the son of Felix and Edith (Hoffman) Micheli. He grew up in Schenectady with his four siblings: Felix (Lee) Micheli, Francis (Patricia) Micheli, Elizabeth (Arnold) Brown and Kathy (Robert) Doak.
Bill was a dedicated father to his five children: Pamela Micheli, Michael Micheli, Lisa Madden (Robert), Eric Micheli (Teresa) and Marc Micheli. He loved making memories with his thirteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Bill gave the best hugs and the firmest handshakes, and his eyes always told you how much he loved and cared about you. Despite life's challenges, Bill always managed to keep his sense of humor. His genuine acts of kindness, his sincerity, his boundless patience and his compassionate nature set an example that will not be forgotten.
Bill was a proud U.S. Army combat veteran of the Korean War. A member of the Sheet Metal Workers International Association Local Union No. 83 and a skilled welder, Bill balanced working hard with good times spent fishing, camping, and horseback riding. For several decades, he was a member of the Union College Alumni bowling league, and then continued bowling as a senior superstar up until just a few years ago. As a member of St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church choir for twenty years, Bill shared his faith and his wonderful singing voice with others. He also sang with the Electric City Chorus for five years. Bill's skills as a handyman were well known and always appreciated. His adventures in home improvement and renovation are an indelible part of Micheli family history.
Family and friends can gather at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, on Sunday, February 5, from 4-6 p.m. Bill's life will be celebrated at a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church in Schenectady on Monday, February 6, at 9 a.m. Interment will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Bill's memory to the Disabled American Veterans, the Patriot Guard Riders of NY or the Alzheimer's Association.
