Obituary of Marie Ferguson

Marie Melius Ferguson, 89, died on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Kingsway Nursing Home. Born in Green Island, NY, she lived in Plattsburgh until her senior year in high school. She graduated from Watervliet High School in 1940 and subsequently went to work for New York Telephone Company. It was there she met her beloved husband, William Ferguson in 1946. They were married in 1949 and he predeceased her in 1978. She retired from the phone company in January 1984. Marie, an avid golfer, belonged to the Mechanicville Country Club for many years and was a long- time resident of Clifton Park. She was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Katherine Melius; sister, Margaret Marcil; brother, Walter Melius; and nephews, Edward Marcil (Diane) and Michael Melius. She is survived by a brother, John Melius; nephew, Richard Marcil (Sheila); nieces, Suzanne Fryling (Jerome), Christine Melius, Judy Pelon (Kurt), Patricia Melius, and Carol Farrell (Joseph); many great- nieces and nephews, and great great-nieces and nephews. A service will be held on Monday, October 24, 11 a.m. at Memory Gardens, Shaker Road, Colonie.
