It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carolyn Ann "Betsy" Forkas of Schenectady, NY. Betsy passed away peacefully on January 26, 2023 at the age of 83.

Betsy was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. She was known for her kindness and generosity, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her house was always open to her children's friends. She loved knitting, and was famous for the colorful beanies she made for family and friends.

Betsy was born and raised in Schenectady, and remained there her entire life. She was an active member of many community organizations, working and volunteering for the Girl Scouts her entire life and serving on the Board of the Schenectady Business and Professional Women's Club.

Betsy will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her children Will (Elizabeth Skane) Wheeler, Sue (Joe) Jacob, and Jim Wheeler; her loving grandchildren Alex, Wilson, and Ellis; many nieces and nephews; and her lifelong friend of over 70 years Patricia A. "Poppy" Roesch. She was predeceased by her parents James "Pa" and Helen "Ma" Forkas, and her siblings Jim and Donald "Butch" Forkas.

The family extends their deepest, heartfelt thanks to the staff on Mohawk Trail at the Glendale Home who cared for Betsy during her final years.
