Obituary of Wendall F. Smith

Shenectady - Wendall Smith, Jr. “Pizza Man”, passed away Wednesday May 17, 2023 at his home on Elm St. surrounded by loving family. Wendall was born in West Lebanon, NH the son of the late Wendall and Gladys (Watrous) Smith and was a graduate of West Lebanon High School after which he served in the United States Air Force earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. He worked at United Baking Co. for 19 years and then at Reser’s Fine Foods as a Sales Representative retiring in 1997. Later in life, Wendall worked part time for Clark Courier of Schenectady. He loved to work in his wood working shop and loved sports and was an avid bowler. Wendall was married to Tommie Jean Smith for 52 years who passed away in 2005. Wendall is survived by his companion Ida Pinkerton, daughters; Clara (Dave) Harvey- Glad and Deborah (Rich) Cruse, daughter-in-law Kim Smith, grandsons: Matthew Harvey, William Mcgrouty, George Venet and Wendall Smith IV, grand daughters; Wendy Rutherford, Victoria Venet and Michela Smith, 6 great-grand daughters, 3 great-grand sons, 2 great-great-grand daughters, sister Marilyn Johnson and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his son Wendall Smith, III, daughter Sharon McGrouty, sister Gail Estes and Beverley Payne. The funeral service will be held Monday 11:00 am at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. A calling hour will precede the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie.
