Obituary of Scott Garling

Schenectady - Scott (Scooter) Garling, 68, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2023. Born in Schenectady, NY, Scott was the son of Catherine (Riddell) Southworth and the late Warren Garling. Scott was a free-spirited soul with a passion for music, cooking, baking, and painting. He touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him, leaving behind an indelible mark of love, creativity, and joy. Scott embraced life with an infectious energy. Music was the lifeblood that coursed through his veins, and he found solace and inspiration in its melodies. From the gentle strumming of a guitar to the harmonious beats of drums, Scott could captivate an entire room with his talent. His gift for music allowed him to connect with others, transcending the boundaries of language and touching the depths of their souls. Scott lived in harmony with nature, cherishing the beauty of the world around him. His heart overflowed with love, and kindness. In addition to his mother, Scott is survived by his children: Sarah (Quincy) Harris, Aubree (Paul) Burbank and Jamie Williams, his partner in life and music, Fran O'Neill, her children, Connor and Charley O'Neill, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and his siblings: Warren (Marie) Garling, Craig Garling, Susan (Rick) Forgeron, Paul Garling, Cindy Garling and many nieces and nephews. Scott is predeceased by his infant son, James Garling. There will be visitation Saturday June 17, 2023 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady.
