It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Helen Margaret Carr Marola Gale. Helen died on June 7, 2023, after a long illness. She was surrounded by her family who loved her deeply.

Helen was born on Aug. 16, 1934, in Jersey City, New Jersey. She is predeceased by her mother Josephine Freer Carr, her father, Ralph Carr, her brother Ronald Carr, and by her husband Richard Gale.

Helen and Dick made their homes in Fayetteville and Schenectady, New York. She worked at the health center at Syracuse University. Helen and Dick had a wide group of friends and enjoyed many activities with them, such as camping, boating, gardening, playing bridge, sewing and reading. Helen was an active member at St Kateri of Tekakwitha Roman Catholic Church in Schenectady where she volunteered.

Helen is survived by her six children, and four stepchildren. Kathleen and Martin Callahan, Gina Marola and Craig Engel, Ellen and Joseph Mallia, Thomas and Lorraine Marola, Robert and Lydia Marola, Peggy Marola and Luciano Palazzo, Linda Gale, Sharon Gale and Ron Terry, Andrea and Tom Kelly, Marlene Gale and Bobby Brustle. Helen is also survived by her 20 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren whom she cherished.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Kateri of Tekakwitha Roman Catholic Church, Rosa Rd. Schenectady, New York on Saturday July 29, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. Her family will receive visitors from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. at the church, preceding the Mass. Entombment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery Mausoleum immediately following the Mass.
