Michael Patrick Kavney, 79, of Niskayuna, died Friday, July 7, 2023 in Wilbraham, Massachusetts. Michael was born in Troy, and was a longtime resident of Niskayuna.

He was the son of Troy residents Mildred Rogers Kavney and Michael Francis Kavney. He was a graduate of LaSalle Institute, before entering the United States Coast Guard. He spent almost his entire career with General Electric, at the Research & Development Center in Niskayuna, retiring from his role as a purchasing manager after more than 45 years with the company.

Mike truly loved being outdoors. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and hunting. He also enjoyed golfing. He took great pride in the care of his home in Niskayuna.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Karen Yager Kavney, and his sister, Karen Kavney O’Brien. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Michael Sean and Colleen Kavney of Fayetteville, GA; his daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Joseph Holden of Wilbraham, MA; and his sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and James Nuttall of Malta. The pride and joy of his life were his five grandchildren, Zachary, Sean, Ainsley, Katie, and Michael Daniel. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours, Tuesday evening, 5 to 7 p.m. at DALY FUNERAL HOME, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Funeral service, Wednesday morning, 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 806 Union St., Schenectady.
