Obituary of Joyce Y. McCrae

Schenectady - Joyce Yvonne McCrae 63, of Schenectady passed away peacefully on Thursday July 27, 2023. Born in Queens NY on January 5, 1960, she was the daughter of the late James Anthony and Annie Mae McRae. Joyce grew up in Westchester County, moved to Kingston NY at age 19. Shortly after, she decided to move to Schenectady, NY, where she raised her children. She was employed at Northland Transportation for many years. She attended Higher Hope Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Pastor Darryl D. Cade. Joyce enjoyed being with family. She loved playing cards, watching tv, and playing board games with her granddaughter. Joyce also loved the holidays. She would decorate the Christmas tree and keep it up all year long so she could decorate for every holiday. She loved spending quality time with her family and celebrating birthdays. Her birthday was a national holiday that lasted the whole month of January and she would call you to remind you that it was her birthday (meaning you didn't call her quick enough). She had a sense of humor and a smile that would light up a room. That is how she will be remembered. Joyce is survived by her daughter Unique Bowman, son Raymond Taylor Jr., grandson Samuel Watters III, granddaughter Crystal Watters, sisters: Lillie Johnson, Jennifer McRae, and Gail McRae, nieces: Karen Johnson, Kelly Johnson, Gail Richardson, Jessica Tyree, nephews: Robert Johnson, Richard Johnson, Kenneth Johnson, Charles McRae, Marcus Mccrimmon and a host of other family, extended family, and friends. The funeral service will be Friday, August 11, 2023, 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. The McRae family would like to extend a special thank you to everyone for their expressions of love and support in the home-going of our beloved Joyce Yvonne McCrae.
