Clifton Park - Phyllis Ann Bienduga (nee La Plante), passed at Albany Medical Center on Friday, 8/18 after a brief illness. She was 72 years old. Phyllis was born and raised in Scotia, New York and graduated from Scotia-Glenville High School in 1969. She followed in her mother's footsteps and graduated from the Ellis Hospital School of Nursing in 1973. Like her mother before her, she was an excellent nurse. Phyllis began her career working in private practice but was best known for her work at the General Electric Medical Clinic in Schenectady, and the GE Waterford clinic as a certified Occupational Health Nurse. Hearing conservation and foreign travel were her specialties. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Schenectady, where she taught Sunday school classes for 20 years. She loved campfires, late nights, a full glass, and spending time with her family. She was especially fond of going to Jumpin' Jack's and seeing the concerts at Freedom Park in Scotia with her two sisters. Phyllis was predeceased by her father Everette E. La Plante, her mother Phyllis La Plante (nee Downs), and an older brother Victor L. La Plante. She is survived by her older brother Everette "Bud" La Plante (Cookie), her older sister Yvonne Palasik, her younger sister Elizabeth Cullen (Jerry), and two younger brothers, Theodore La Plante (Carey) and Thomas La Plante. She is also survived by her three sons Edward Downs (Lindsey Saukko & Ivy), Brian Bienduga (Amy, Colton, Chase & Cooper), Kurt Bienduga (Stephanie Baker). Whichever name she was known by, Dre, Fifi, Mom, Aunt Fif, and Grammers will be missed dearly. Funeral Service Monday 12:15 PM at St. Joseph's Church (Schenectady).
