Tallahassee- Patricia "Patsy" Bellizzi of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away on November 24, 2023, at the age of 76. A devoted mother of three, teacher, and volunteer, Patsy was born on February 26, 1947, in Schenectady, New York, the second of seven daughters to the late Henry Mohns and Malene Dougherty Mohns.
Patsy dedicated her adult life to working with children. After growing up in Niskayuna and graduating from Niskayuna High School, she earned a bachelor's degree in education from Buffalo State Teachers College and became an elementary school teacher. Patsy transitioned from classroom teaching to raising three children in Delmar, NY, and becoming an active volunteer in her community, including as a Girl Scout Leader and a Little League Coach. After her own children were grown, she returned to teaching, earning a master's degree in education from SUNY Albany, and volunteered countless hours at the Schuyler Inn homeless shelter in Menands, helping and supporting families in need and especially their children. Patsy relocated from New York to Florida to bask in the company of her grandchildren and spent numerous hours enjoying activities with them and cheering on their sporting events and recitals.
Patsy's love for children was matched by her love for dogs and a long line of devoted family pets culminated in a very special pack of senior and special needs rescue dogs for whom she provided a provided a loving and caring home over the last decade.
She found solace and community in her places of worship throughout her life. She attended St. Thomas the Apostle in Delmar, NY, and Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Tallahassee, FL.
Patsy's creativity and ability to bring joy to those around her were evident in her passion for cooking and baking, including elaborate holiday meals and desserts. Her creative talents were not limited to the kitchen, as she was an avid knitter and an enthusiastic seamstress, making not only her own wedding dress but countless Halloween costumes.
Patsy is survived by her children: John Bellizzi III (Heidi) of Toledo, OH; Robin Queen (Titus) of Tallahassee, FL; and Jeanna Sung of Jackson, WY. She was a loving grandmother to Connor Queen and Mia Queen of Tallahassee, Florida. Patsy is also survived by her sisters: Marguerite Vanco of Milwaukee, WI; Elizabeth Blumberg of Rutland, VT; Deborah Young of Raleigh, NC; Linda Mohns (Steve Janowik) of Collierville, TN; Mary Muller (Fred) of Niskayuna, NY; and Judith Mohns (Francois Deschamps) of New Paltz, NY. Additionally, she is survived by nine nieces and nephews, their spouses, and five great nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be at Daly Funeral Home in Schenectady on Friday December 1st from 5:00 to 7:00 pm and a funeral mass will be held at St. Ambrose Church in Latham on Saturday December 2nd at 9:00 am.
